- Sony’s new free TV channels are streaming-only and have begun their rollout in the UK.
Samsung TV Plus updates its channel list to include Sony’s new streaming only channels, which dig deep into the Sony Pictures archive.
Viewers with access to TV Plus on Samsung smart TVs, mobiles and tablets can now access Sony’s channels, with four added to the entertainment genre and two movie channels.
The channels were first announced before Easter, as part of a rollout covering numerous European countries. But Sony didn’t disclose the precise launch date. Samsung TV Plus added the channels late last week.
In total, across Europe, there will be 54 Sony One channels – that’s including all the different local language versions of the channels. So far, the UK has six of the channels on Samsung TV Plus.
TV Plus is available as an app that’s preinstalled on all new and new-ish Samsung TVs, phones and tablets. On Samsung smart TVs, TV Plus channels are also found above channel 4000 on the channel list (unless you have a Samsung TV that operates in Freesat mode).

In addition to Samsung TV Plus, Sony One is also new on LG Channels. Despite only being available on these two smart TV streaming platforms, the channels will reach users of the two biggest brands in terms of UK market share.
Samsung TV Plus viewers are still waiting for two new channels from A+E Networks, the company behind channels include Blaze and Crime+Investigation. Last month, the company announced it would be launching two new streaming channels on the TV Plus, service “in April”.
