Users of Samsung’s smart TV range can now access additional free sports and entertainment channels in the latest update to receivers.
- New services featuring Wrestling, Olympic sports and Korean drama join the service.
Samsung device owners have received an upgrade to the TV service given them access to an even wider range of free streaming TV channels.
Over the course of the past months, over half a dozen new services have launched on Samsung TV Plus, which is built into to Samsung smart TVs and a selection of its other devices, including most Galaxy smartphones.
Joining the line-up is a new service for wresting fans. Wresting Legends TV is the 24/7 destination to experience WWE like never before, with behind-the-scenes shows featuring its stars. It now streams on channel 4613 or in the sports section of the TV Plus guide.
New service from Eurovision
Best known for its song contest, Eurovision has branched out with a direct-to-viewer sports service.
Eurovision Sport, now on channel 4611, is the European Broadcasting Union’s dedicated sports streaming service. The channel offers world-class Olympic sports, highlights and documentaries.
The EBU recently announced a deal with Aquatics GB to stream coverage of various events including diving, open water and artistic swimming champions via Eurovision Sport.
Traditionally, the BBC would have been the first port of call for any coverage of these events, but has in recent years cut back the extent of its coverage. Eurovision Sport now provides an outlet for sporting events that can’t get regular TV coverage.
More additions
Fans of all things Korean can now access additional Korean drama on new channels from Series K on channels 4254 and 4259.
Earlier this spring, Samsung TV Plus also added Racing TV Play, the new streaming channel from the horse racing broadcaster, offering highlights of recent events (channel 4674).
Meanwhile, the dedicated Bundesliga football channel, which screens live games and highlights is currently available on channel 4003, or in the ‘featured’ area of the Samsung TV Plus guide. This is for a promotional period, as the league nears the end of the season.
All channels are available at no extra cost, but require users to be logged in to a Samsung account.
