Sky reveals US Open coverage plans

29 June 2023

Live coverage of the US Open returns to Sky Sports this year, with the broadcaster promising more innovation in its coverage.

Coverage starts on 28th August with Sky Sports showing a minimum 135 hours of the tennis tournament live on its channels.

An all-star line-up of tennis experts will join presenter Gigi Salmon. Experts include Martina Navratilova, Tim Henman, Jo Konta, Feliciano Lopez, Marion Bartoli, Jordanne Whiley, Laura Robson, Jamie Murray, Karthi Gnanasegaram, Emma Paton and Jonathan Overend.

Sky Sports has access to all individual court feeds. Subscribers with Sky Glass, Sky Stream, Sky Q and the Sky Sports app will be able to choose between courts.

Across Sky Sports’ linear channels and on Sky Sports digital and social channels, tennis fans can enjoy extensive coverage, including both the Men’s and Women’s tournaments, alongside respective Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Juniors, and Wheelchair competitions.

In a statement issued by Sky, it said it shared the USTA’s “ambition to deliver world-class live coverage, using innovative technology to show the breadth of what the US Open has to offer while engaging new and younger audiences in the sport.”

The new partnership between Sky Sports and the US Open begins this year, running through to and including the 2027 event. Sky welcomes tennis back to its channels this year with the US Open being one of the most prestigious Grand Slam tournaments in the Open era. Previous rightsholder Amazon opted not to bid for further tennis rights.
