Pluto TV adds two CNN channels

11 September 2024

CNN International becomes more widely available for free, with Pluto TV announcing CNN as one of three new entrants to its streaming service.

  • CNN’s launch on Pluto TV announced days after channel returned to Virgin Media
  • CNN FAST available alongside CNN International
  • Reuters news channel also available on Pluto TV

Free streaming service Pluto TV has confirmed the arrival of additional news channels, with CNN International continuing to boost its availability in the UK.

Pluto TV has today added two CNN channels – CNN International and CNN FAST – currently found the ‘new on Pluto TV’ rail. At the time of publication neither channel had yet been added to the news rail.

CNN International is available on Pluto TV in the UK, Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

CNN Fast is available on Pluto TV in the UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Canada, France, Italy and Spain. The channel curates short-form videos and offers a way for audiences to watch a range of quick-paced, internationally focused CNN content across entertainment, business, sport and major news events.

Already added to Pluto’s news channel line-up is Reuters news channel. The global news agency’s news streaming service provides world news coverage.

Pluto already offers CBS News 24/7 on its platform – CBS and Pluto TV are both part of Paramount.

All channels are offered in HD, subject to your available internet speed.

Corporate comment

Katrina Kowalski, Senior Vice President, International Content Programming and Acquisitions at Pluto TV, commented:

“With the debut of CNN Fast, CNN International and Reuters on Pluto TV, we are providing both global and local news coverage to our fans, connecting our audiences with every community they belong to. By expanding our local, geo-targeted news offerings, we ensure our viewers remain updated on the most important global news, but also on what happens within their communities, enhancing their viewing experience with timely content, and getting one step closer to our mission to entertain the planet.”

CNN’s imminent arrival on the platform follows the recent reinstatement of CNN on Virgin Media in the UK. CNN has gone from limiting access to its channel in the UK in 2021 to becoming widely available across both traditional broadcast and new streaming platforms. It follows changes to CNN management and strategy under the ownership of Warner Bros Discovery (WBD).

Pluto TV recently added football channel FIFA+ to its UK line-up, as it continues to boost its range of streaming channels.
