Sky announces October channel list tidy-up

4 October 2024

Over 12 channels will be moving to new slots on the channel list this Wednesday, 9th October as Sky takes steps to fill gaps in its satellite TV guide.

  • PBS America, Discovery History, Court TV and Rewind TV among the channels that are moving.
  • BBC Scotland HD will be moving for viewers outside of Scotland.
  • The changes are expected to complete during the morning of the 9th October 2024

Sky is filling in empty slots on its satellite channel list on Wednesday 9th October 2024, tidying up the bottom half of its entertainment and factual section.

The automatic channel update will affect Sky Q and Sky+HD users in the UK and Ireland. It will not affect Sky Glass/Sky Stream users.

Since Sky’s last major channel update in May 2018, when the majority of channels were affected by change, the number of entertainment and factual channels has steadily declined.

The closure of channels including TruTV, VH1, AMC, YourTV, Lifetime and VH1 in the last six years has resulted in numerous gaps forming. The adjustments to channel number will complete during the morning of Wednesday 9th October. After the changes, the entertainment section ends on channel 183.

Meanwhile, for UK viewers outside of Scotland, BBC Scotland HD moves to channel 180. The channel is a popular destination for live coverage and highlights of Scottish football.

Sky has in recent years completed similar shuffle-ups in the music, sport, children’s, international and radio sections of its TV guide. Freesat completed its own channel tidy-up on 1st October.
