My5 launching on Sky Q ahead of big rebrand

28 January 2025

Sky Q users are getting access to Channel 5’s streaming app from February, just in time for its relaunch.

  • Sky Q boxes will automatically receive the upgraded replacement for My5 in March.
  • Sky users will continue to be able to access Channel 5 content via Sky VoD.

My5 from Channel 5 comes to Sky Q this February as part of a wider distribution deal between Sky and Channel 5’s owner Paramount. It will mean the full versions of all of main five UK channel’s streaming services will be available on Sky Q satellite receivers.

Following the updating rolling out to Sky Q boxes, customers will have access to My5’s full library of programming, both live and on-demand, across a range of genres. Streaming highlights include All Creatures Great and Small, Blindspot, The Teacher and Ellis, documentaries series including My Wife, My Abuser, the controversial Phillip Schofield: Castaway, true crime such as Cause of Death, children’s programming from Channel 5’s preschool brand Milkshake! as well as acquired content such as Revenge and Home and Away.

What’s actually changing?

Channel 5 content is already available on Sky’s on-demand service. The addition of My5 opens up Channel 5’s full streaming service and all of its library of on-demand programmes, which will increasingly also feature third-party programmes.

As part of the agreement, Sky users will still be able to access Channel 5’s linear content through Sky VoD as is currently the case.

What happens in March, when My5 is replaced?

The February launch of the My5 app on Sky Q comes weeks ahead of a major rebrand that will see Channel 5 and My5 unify under a single brand – “5”.

At this point, Sky Q users as well as users on other platforms with My5 will be able to benefit from the revamped streaming app which will grow to include more content, including programmes from Paramount’s other TV brands, including Nickelodeon.

Corporate Comment

Kiaran Saunders, VP Distribution at Paramount UK, commented:

“Our expanded distribution across Sky Q marks an important milestone in My5’s ongoing growth, enabling us to reach more homes than ever before. With the upcoming refresh to 5, we’re thrilled to deliver an even more engaging, streamlined and richer viewing experience for all of our audiences.”
