Free-to-air TV channel Rewind TV continues its celebration of distinctive British television with a March line-up packed with sharp writing, unforgettable performances, and cult favourites, many returning to schedules after long absences.
Jaspar Carrott, Rik Mayall, Julia Sawalha and Bill Maynard star in classic British TV shows coming back to TV
From hard-hitting youth drama and fearless comedy to classic science fiction and character-driven sitcoms, Rewind TV has confirmed new additions to its line-up starting in March.
Carrott Del Sol- Starts 1st March at 3:00pm
Carrott del Sol is a one-off television comedy starring Jasper Carrott as Sago, a confident “likely lad” who heads to Spain with his mates on a classic package holiday in search of sun, freedom, and fun. What begins as carefree escapism quickly turns into a series of comic mishaps as Sago struggles with culture clashes, dashed expectations, and the reality that the holiday dream rarely matches the brochure. Warm, gently satirical, and rooted in observation, the film captures the humour of British holidays abroad while showcasing Carrott’s trademark comic style.
Press Gang- Starts 2nd March at 1:05pm and 6:30pm
Steven Moffat’s acclaimed drama about a group of teenagers running a local newspaper arrives on Rewind TV, starring Julia Sawalha as the brilliant and uncompromising editor Lynda Day, alongside Dexter Fletcher, Paul Reynolds, and Kelvin Collins. Agony- Starts 2nd March at 12.35am and 7:00pm
Rarely seen in recent years, Agony returns to screens on Rewind TV, starring Maureen Lipman as the forthright agony aunt whose advice columns conceal a complex personal life. Adapted from the popular newspaper feature, the series explores relationships, sexuality, identity, and social change with warmth, wit, and emotional honesty. Grounded in contemporary issues of its time, Agony offers a revealing and often moving snapshot of Britain in transition, combining intimate drama with sharp social observation.
The Gaffer- Starts 2nd March at 8:30am and 7:30pm
Starring Bill Maynard as plain-spoken foreman Fred Moffatt. Set against the backdrop of working-class life, the sitcom blends humour with realism as Fred navigates the
challenges of work, family, and personal relationships with blunt honesty and dry wit. Warm, character-driven, and rooted in everyday experience, The Gaffer captures a world rarely seen on screen and remains a quietly distinctive entry in British television comedy.
Rik Mayall Presents- Starts 7th March at 9:20pm
Returning to television after many years away, Rik Mayall Presents showcases the anarchic brilliance of Rik Mayall in a bold and uncompromising series that blends satire, surrealism, and character-driven drama. Alongside Mayall’s performances, the series features an impressive roster of guest stars including Helena Bonham Carter, Peter Capaldi, Alan Cumming, Amanda Donohoe, Saffron Burrows, Lee Evans, Michael Kitchen, Helen McCrory, Eleanor Bron, and remains a cult favourite of 1990s British comedy.
Space 1999- Starts 24th March at 10:00am and 2:40pm
The final series of the iconic science-fiction drama arrives on Rewind TV, continuing the journey of Moonbase Alpha after the Moon is blasted out of Earth’s orbit. Starring Martin Landau as Commander John Koenig and Barbara Bain as Dr Helena Russell, with Catherine Schell joining the cast as the alien empath Maya, season two adopts a darker tone and more ambitious storytelling. With striking visual design, philosophical themes, and a strong cult following, Space: 1999 remains one of British television’s most distinctive and enduring science-fiction series.
