Discovery Shed and Home & Leisure are being delisted from both Sky and Virgin Media programme guides this week.
There will be no direct replacement for either channels when they close on the 6th January.
Discovery Shed and Home & Leisure were part of Discovery’s original bundle of niche channels. They were increasingly marginalised in recent years, attracting low viewing figures and little investment.
The number of channels offered by Discovery to UK and Ireland viewers in the past five years has mushroomed as a result of the broadcaster acquiring first Scripps Networks and later a bundle of channels from UKTV. These include home improvement and property show channel HGTV, male-skewing DMAX and Quest as well as lifestyle channel Really.
Discovery hopes Discovery+ will provide a better vehicle for specialist content, in conjunction with a stronger base of linear channels.
