ViacomCBS saw the number of subscribers increase by 4.3 million worldwide during the three months to the end of September. The increase was driven by viewers flocking to Paramount+, which becomes available in the UK next year.
The company had 47 million paying subscribers by the end of September.
In the UK, Paramount+ is launching on Sky Q next year, with further platforms to follow. It’s a move that will help global subscriber growth in the coming months. The roll-out of streaming services has proved to be a money-spinner for the company: its latest results show ViacomCBS earned more than $1 billion from streaming services for the first time ever.
At nearly 50 million subscribers, ViacomCBS has more than double the number of customers as Discovery+ (20 million), but still falls short of Disney+ (116 million) and Netflix (209 million).
