All change at TalkTV as Jeremy Kyle gets regular new slot

23 September 2022

Six months after launching, TalkTV announces a major overhaul of its evening news schedule with new programmes and a new flagship evening news show.

From Monday 10th October, Jeremy Kyle will go live in a new regular 7:00pm slot, taking over the slot from TalkTV’s current evening news programme The News Desk.

News Desk presenter Tom Newton Dunn moves to 10pm with First Edition with Tom Newton Dunn, which will become TalkTV’s new flagship news show. First Edition aims to combine an overview of the day’s news plus a look at tomorrow’s news agenda with a first look at the newspaper front pages.

TalkTV’s flagship primetime show Piers Morgan Uncensored will continue with at 8pm on weeknights, despite reports of disappointing viewing figures earlier this summer. The Talk featuring Sharon Osbourne and guests also remains in its current slot. Vanessa Feltz, who joined the channel from the BBC this summer kicks off TalkTV’s evening schedule with her recently launched drivetime show from 4pm.

Commenting on his new show, Jeremy Kyle said:

“I’m so excited to be going back to live television from October 10th. Sitting in for Piers over the summer has given me a taste for what the new show will be. Jeremy Kyle Live will be making sense of the stories that matter; speaking the language of the British people and providing practical help as we all try and navigate our way through current times. I can’t wait to be a part of TalkTV’s amazing new primetime lineup.”

Speaking of First Edition, Tom Newton Dunn said:

“First Edition is a really exciting opportunity to redefine what a flagship evening news programme looks like. We want to produce a news hour that not just looks back on the day, but sets the agenda and looks forward into tomorrow, with the help of the next day’s newspaper first editions and a full paper review. With TalkTV’s own growing reporting cadre, and the world beating journalism across News UK’s titles, we are brilliantly placed to do this.”

Richard Wallace, Head of TV at News UK, said:

“Talk TV has had an exciting start, but now is the time for our offering to evolve. This is the first step in the next stage of the channel’s growth which shows the real quality and strength in depth of our squad of opinion-formers.”
