Classic Hits, dedicated to showing music videos from throughout the decades has cut its Freeview hours in favour of its parent channel.
On Freeview, Classic Hits shares a multiplex slot with That’s TV. From this week, Classic Hits will now only be available from 0400-0700 each morning. As part of the change, it has moved from channel 91 to channel 88. Parent channel That’s TV UK on channel 65 sees its Freeview time increase from 0700-0400 each day.
However, That’s TV continues to showcase classic pop and rock music videos at various points of the day, alongside a mix of factual and entertainment programmes from the archives.
Sky viewers can now access Classic Hits all day and night on channel 366, following its launch on the platform earlier this month.
Manchester anomaly
In Manchester, Classic Hits is also available on Freeview channel 91, under the label ‘Classic Hits MCR’.
Viewers in Manchester are able to receive this extra service as a result of extra Freeview capacity left over from the now-defunct Channel M service. It was decided not to reuse Channel M’s Freeview multiplex for Manchester’s current local TV service, effectively giving the city two local Freeview multiplexes and capacity for around six more Freeview channels than elsewhere in the UK.
