England’s historic win over Germany in the Women’s Euro 2022 final became the most watced women’s football game in TV history. It was also the most-watched programme of 2022 so far.
Online, via the iPlayer and BBC Sport website and app there were 5.9 million streams for the Euro 2022 final, as the Lionesses claimed victory in a major international tournament for England for the first time since 1966.
BBC One also changed its schedule to show live coverage of the Women’s Euro triumph at a fan celebration at Trafalgar Square, London at lunchtime.
