UKTV, the broadcaster behind channels including Dave, Drama and Yesterday, says there’s a problem affecting its catch-up service on some devices.
Some users are reporting problems trying to play back programmes from the UKTV Play app on their Freeview Play TV or box.
The broadcaster has apologised for any inconvenience caused and confirms it is “working on it to fix the issue.” The fault was later narrowed down to older devices.
Freeview Play was updated on Friday with a range of new features, including a new box set area and additional recommendation genres. Freeview Play includes apps like the iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4, My 5 and UKTV Play by default – so any TV sold as supporting Freeview Play will always include these apps.
UKTV Play allows viewers to catch-up on programmes shown on the TV channels Dave, Drama, W and Yesterday. These are normally available for 30 days, beginning from around one hour from their first broadcast.
The app is delivered separately on non-Freeview Play devices, like Apple TV, Roku and Samsung smart TVs. These are not affected by this specific issue.
