Steep increases for all Netflix subscribers as even the basic package goes up in price.
New subscribers will pay the increased prices with immediate effect. Existing customers are getting 30 days notice.
The Basic Netflix package increases by £1 to £6.99 a month. That is an increase of almost 17%. The Basic package allows the user to watch in standard definition on one device.
For the Standard package, which includes HD access, the increase is £1 or 10% from £9.99 to £10.99 a month.
The Premium tier, which includes UHD access jumps £2 to £15.99.
All rises are above the UK’s current rate of inflation, which the Bank of England expects to be around 6% in the coming months.
The Netflix price rises coincide with widespread price rises among broadband, pay TV, mobile phone, gas and electricity suppliers. Plus, in April, Council Tax and National Insurance rates will increase.
