The BBC has confirmed an on-going issue that some users accessing the iPlayer on iOS are experiencing.
Viewers who download content from the BBC iPlayer iOS app and play via an HDMI connection have reported a variety of issues.
This includes, according to the BBC, “juddery/jerky playback and no audio.”
As a result, the BBC has launched an investigation. It’s working with Apple to find the root cause of the issue.
Non-iOS devices aren’t affected by this issue.
ℹ BBC iPlayer downloads are designed to allow users to store content on the devices for when there’s no internet connection. They can also be used to watch programmes while on a trip abroad. Programmes do need to be downloaded while still in the UK.
Meanwhile, the BBC has confirmed Sony has provided a solution to a problem that’s been plaguing iPlayer users on certain makes and model of Sony TV.
Sony TVs from 2020 were cropping the iPlayer image. The BBC is directing affected users to Sony’s customer support, which has outlined steps on how to resolve the issue.
