ITVX subscribers will gain over a thousand hours of content this spring, as StudioCanal Presents joins the streaming service.
Content includes family favourites Paddington and the 1970s version of The Railway Children.
StudioCanal Presents on ITVX will also include award-winning home grown and international films such as Legend starring Tom Hardy, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy starring Gary Oldman, Non Stop starring Liam Neeson, The Imitation Game starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Apocalypse Now starring Marlon Brando, David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive, Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth and The Deer Hunter, starring Robert De Niro and Christopher Walken.
StudioCanal Presents also offers a wealth of premium and international TV series such as Hannibal, the prequel series to The Silence of the Lambs; and showcases the best of StudioCanal and Canal+’s own TV productions including Russell T Davies’ dystopian drama Years and Years. There’s also all eight series of popular French procedural Spiral; hip-hop drama All the Way Up, which broke streaming records upon its launch on Canal+ in France; and cult Danish thriller Below the Surface.
▶ Main Points
- StudioCanal Presents goes live on ITVX Premium during the spring
- The ITVX-StudioCanal deal will see over 400 films added to the subscription tier of the service.
- ITVX Premium is available from £5.99 per month.
- ITVX Premium also provides subscribers with access to BritBox’s catalogue and all of ITVX’s wide range of content ad-free, or with reduced ads.
Cost saving?
StudioCanal Presents is currently available as a standalone subscription on-demand service available on platforms including Amazon and Apple TV. The service was originally launched with a monthly subscription of £4.99. That’s just £1 less than the cost of the entire ITVX Premium tier that will soon include StudioCanal’s service.
Smaller and newer subscription services have struggled to gain viewership as viewers evaluate their subscriptions. StudioCanal Presents being bundled into ITVX Premium indicates the tide has turned on production companies creating their own standalone services.
