Virgin Media customers in the UK now have the option to subscribe to Sky Sports in UHD, with three UHD sports channels going live today.
Sky Sports Main Event UHD, plus Sky Sports Ultra HD 1 and Ultra HD 2 are now live on the Virgin Media TV platform in the UK. They went live during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Sky Sports Main Event UHD is a direct simulcast of the existing Main Event channel. But Sky Sports Ultra HD 1 and Ultra HD 2 offer highlights from the rest of Sky Sports channels. While Sky satellite and Sky Glass/Stream viewers can currently only access these services through the red button, Virgin Media allows its subscribers to access Sky Sports Ultra HD 1 and 2 directly via the channel list.
The Sky Sports UHD channels also include Dolby Atmos sound.

The UHD add-on costs £7 a month. Existing Virgin TV customers wanting to add Sky Sports Ultra HD to their subscription can do so by contacting 0800 052 0813.
Virgin Media already offers Sky Cinema content in UHD, alongside BT Sport Ultimate – BT’s Ultra HD service. Virgin also operates its own Ultra HD entertainment channel (channel 228/999).
Last week, Virgin Media automatically upgraded viewers when it made extra channels available in HD at no extra cost. Multiple services from ITV, Channel 4 and Sky are now HD by default on the platform after the cable operator turned off SD services.
Update 13/02/2023, with comment from Virgin Media O2:
