Fans of extreme sports and lifestyle programming can now enjoy Extreme on Freeview for the first time in its 25 year history.
- New streaming service on Freeview channel 295.

The globally renowned home of the world’s finest extreme sports and lifestyle programming has launched on Freeview, taking channel 295 as its permanent home.
Extreme became the latest streaming channel to join Freeview in this month’s update.
Broadcast from Amsterdam, the original Extreme Channel has been the home of the best extreme content from around the world for almost 25 years, bringing audiences around the globe the best mix of heart-stopping content 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
After launching in Europe in 1999, it arrived on Sky in 2000. Since its departure from Sky at the end of 2015, the channel hasn’t had a traditional TV outlet in the UK.
Extreme Channel offers viewers a broad spectrum of exclusive programming across extreme sports and lifestyle, from competitive winter sports to surfing, underwater and marine life exploration to MMA and professional wrestling.
Exclusive Events
UK EXCLUSIVE: New Japan Pro Wrestling
The channel’s launch coincides with this new major programming partnership with who will be airing their biggest monthly events on the channel, featuring huge pro wrestling stars including Jon Moxley, Jack Sabre Jr. and Hiroshi Tanahashi exclusively on UK television. Dominion takes place from its traditional home in the shadows of the famous Osaka Castle. Six championships as well as the Best of the Super Jr. trophy are all at stake on a loaded night! NJPW’s ‘Dominion’ 2024 will be broadcast on Friday 14th June at 8pm.
UK EXCLUSIVE: Extreme Fighting Championship
Founded in 2009 and with 120 athletes under contract, EFC is Africa’s leading mixed martial arts promotion, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. EFC events are broadcast in more than 120 countries, viewed in over 600 million homes worldwide and their 10 annual events will be exclusively broadcast on EXTREME in the UK just days after the live event. The next EFC event, ‘114’, takes place on Thursday 13th June and will be broadcast on Extreme on 15th June at 6pm.
Past episodes and special events will broadcast at 7pm on Saturdays and 9pm on Mondays.
Other programme highlights
- Drone Racing League. Combining ground-breaking technology and immersive visuals, this exhilarating series presents the fast, furious and amazing world of professional drone racing! Creating a new era of sport that brings high-speed competition in real life, in virtual simulation and in the metaverse. Viewers can watch DRL on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9pm, repeated back-to-back at 9pm on Sundays.
- X-Games. Founded in 1994 by ESPN, X-Games events are held all over the world showcasing extreme sports including skateboarding, BMX, freestyle motorcross, skiing and snowboarding. The world’s best athletes in their field compete for bronze, silver and gold medals in their chosen sport, as well as the accompanying prize money! There is a variety of programming under the X-Games banner, including the Winter Games, Summer Games, World of X-Games, Aspen, Minneapolis and more. Viewers can catch an array of X Games programming Monday to Friday at 9am, 7pm and 2am as well as Sundays at 8pm.
- Nitro Circus. The #1 action sports company in the world, with some of the biggest and baddest events in BMX, FMX, Skate and Scooter! A group of Adrenaline junkies, led by Travis Pastrana, attempt death defying, crazy stunts all over the globe, pushing limits and breaking boundaries in action sports.
- Liquid Edge. A fast paced series highlighting action sports water adventures from around the globe. We showcase the visually stunning awe-freaking sports of big wave surfing, kiteboarding, jet skiing, windsurfing, stand-up paddling and more! Viewers can watch Liquid Edge at various times throughout the month, please check listings for information.
