Non-stop Graham Norton in latest Samsung TV Plus update

16 February 2024

A dedicated channel showing non-stop Graham Norton and a new music channel from Mercury Records are added to the Samsung TV Plus line-up this month, as the service completes a major change to the service.

  • The Graham Norton Show 24/7 for Samsung TV Plus users,
  • The arrival of comedy channel NextUp and Zee World, the English-language service from India’s Zee TV.
  • Samsung rolls out mandatory registration for the service.

Samsung and ITV Studios have this week launched a non-stop Graham Norton channel, which allows viewers to drop into episodes of the Graham Norton Show at any time of the day.

The new channel is now available on TV Plus channel 4100.

Although the show airs on the BBC, it’s ITV Studios that produces it. And ITV will be able to monetise the show with ad-breaks for the first time.

Elsewhere, new additions include stand-up comedy channel Next Up Live Comedy (channel 4138) and Zee World (channel 4167), the English-language channel from India’s Zee TV.

NextUp Live Comedy continues to be available on Pluto TV and Virgin Media TV in the UK.

For Zee World, this becomes the latest new platform for its service after making its UK debut as a streaming channel via Freeview in 2023. The channel features Bollywood drama dubbed into English.

Mercury Studios has meanwhile added new music channel GIGS (channel 4714). GIGS opens up the music studio’s archive of content featuring performances from Scorpions, Evanescence, The Doors and Velvet Revolver, for example.

Registration required

But viewers who haven’t visited Samsung TV Plus in the past few weeks may find a major change.

Samsung is currently rolling out mandatory sign-in. This means viewers will need a Samsung account to access any TV Plus channel. Previously, Samsung only forced users to sign-in on a small selection of channels.

The good news is that a Samsung account can be created using existing credentials from Google. This means that those with an Android phone can use their existing account to gain access to Samsung.
