Sky UK & Ireland customers can access two streaming services for free

11 April 2024
  • Sky is currently offering two freebies via its VIP scheme, one of which makes up for the recent loss of a channel.

Sky subscribers in the UK and Ireland can try out two streaming services for free via its loyalty scheme.

The offer is available to Sky customers who are eligible for Sky VIP, a loyalty scheme open to TV, broadband & talk as well as mobile customers.

Offers will automatically appear in the VIP section of the MySky app. Customers who have been with Sky for longest will see the most offers.

Apple TV+

Eligible Sky customers who currently don’t have an Apple TV+ subscription can get three months free access. UK subscribers can save £26.97 over three months (normally £8.99 a month). Meanwhile, in the Republic of Ireland, it’s a saving of €29.97 (normally €9.99 a month).

Eligible Sky customers can redeem the offer through the VIP section of the MySky app under the ‘Gifts and Discounts’ category.

The offer isn’t available to Sky customers who already have an active subscription to Apple TV+. But if you recently cancelled Apple TV+, you should be able to rejoin to benefit from the freebie. Cancel before the three months is up to avoid the service auto-renewing at the normal subscription rate.

The Apple TV+ app is integrated into Sky Glass, Sky Stream and Sky Q.

Hayu

At the stroke of midnight into 2024, NBCUniversal-operated reality TV channel E! closed in the UK and Ireland. By the time it closed, the channel had become a pale shadow of its former self, and new reality shows went straight to its streaming sibling Hayu instead.

While NBCUniversal’s Hayu effectively took over the remit of E!, there was one problem: while Hayu had already launched on Sky Glass and Sky Stream, it wasn’t yet available on Sky Q.

That’s now changed, and to mark the launch of Hayu on Sky Q, Sky VIP is offering eligible users three months free access to the app.

Hayu offers reality titles including The Real Housewives franchise, Million Dollar Listing and Below Deck.

The offer runs until 8th May 2024. After the three month free period, Hayu will renew at the normal rate of £4.99 (UK), €5.99 (Republic of Ireland).

Again, Sky VIP customers can access the offer via the MySky app under ‘Gifts and Discounts’. Current Hayu subscribers can’t benefit from the offer.
