July 2021 became ITV Hub’s most successful month on record with a record number of active users and requests as Euro 2020 and Love Island boosted demand.
The latest figures confirm the number of viewers paying to watch ITV’s online service rose to 567,000 subscribers, up 16% year-on-year.
Monthly users of both the free and paid-for versions increased 119%. Live streams were accessed 219 million times throughout the month.
ITV’s two main soaps provided added fuel for ITV Hub’s usage figures. ITV made all weekly Emmerdale and Coronation Street episodes available first on the ITV Hub. This meant soap fans could watch all of the week’s episodes as a boxset. As a result, ITV Hub saw viewers staying on the Hub for longer periods of time.
Rufus Radclifffe, ITV Managing Director, On Demand, said:
“We knew this Summer was going to be a big TV moment with the most talked-about events on ITV, but these figures show just how successful ITV Hub has been in bringing those ‘can’t miss’ occasions to viewers. From live viewing of the Euros to catching up on last-night’s Love Island and making sure not a minute of the Soaps is missed plus all of our Drama and Reality boxsets, it’s testament to the work of the Hub team that more people than ever are using the service.”
