CNN, Rakuten Stories, Comedy Movies, Action Movies and Drama Movies are now available on compatible LG Smart TVs through the LG Channels service.
For CNN, it marks increased availability in the UK through online platforms. The news channel dropped distribution on Freesat and Virgin Media at the end of August.
The new additions are provided by Rakuten TV, already featured on LG Smart TVs. The new channels are only available in the UK, not the Republic of Ireland. LG Channels are available on all LG Smart TVs from 2019 or later, running WebOS 4.5 or later. The free-to-view channels are delivered via the internet. They are in addition to any channels available locally via Freeview or Freesat.
The expansion of Rakuten TV on LG Smart TVs is part of a wider partnership between the two companies. In return for delivering extra content on LG TVs, LG has added a dedicated Rakuten TV button on the latest LG Magic Remotes. Rakuten already delivers CNN and other channels on Samsung smart TVs.
