Sky says issues with a flickering screen on new Sky Glass TVs can be resolved with a software update.
This follows numerous reports from customers complaining about issues with their new all-in-one TVs, which launched last month. Sky maintains that only a small number of customers are affected and says that overall feedback has been positive.
It confirmed that a “scheduled” software update to be sent to Sky Glass TVs this week will resolve the problem.
The flickering screen is one of a number of gremlins reported by users since the launch of the internet-based TV platform. That’s led to accusations on social media that the new product wasn’t fully ready for launch and that new customers are effectively acting as testers. Sky says that future software updates will resolve many of the issues being faced.
Other issues faced by Sky Glass customers include channels failing to play and incorrect regional versions of the main channels. There are also issues with playback of recordings and management of playlists. The accompanying Sky Puck has issues coming out of standby.
Early adopters of Sky Q also encountered various bugs when it first launched five years ago. Although many issues were resolved through updates, customers were forced to replace their old Sky Q box if they wanted to benefit from HDR.
