TalkTV has secured a new home on Virgin Media moving from channel 627 to the more prominent slot of channel 606.
The change took place earlier on Wednesday. The channel change means the broadcaster leapfrogs various international channels. Channel 606 puts TalkTV in-between BBC Parliament and Bloomberg.
In a statement, TalkTV said the move up the Virgin Media channel list was “great news for viewers, who will be able to find the channel on the first page of the news section”.
The move comes just over a month after arch-rival GB News won an auction to secure channel 604. TalkTV is about to launch a new evening schedule, which goes live on 10th October. The new schedule includes a new show for Jeremy Kyle at 7pm. At 10pm, Tom Newton-Dunn will launch First Edition, TalkTV’s new flagship news programme.
The new TalkTV channel number applies to both Virgin Media cable TV and Stream (IPTV) customers in the UK.
Richard Wallace, Head of TV at News UK, said:
“This is an important step forward for Talk TV. We’ve had a very positive first six months with agenda-setting exclusive interviews with Donald Trump and Ukraine’s President Zelensky. Events like our Tory leadership debate and coverage of the death of Queen Elizabeth proved our news credentials. To have a new and more prominent home on Virgin Media, as we unveil our great squad of talent for our autumn schedule, shows our continued ambition.”
