A temporary pop-up channel has launched on Virgin Media’s UK TV network to allow viewers to watch Sky coverage of the Coronation in 4K UHD.
Virgin Media TV customers can access the temporary Sky News UHD channel on channel 607 in the news section or channel 136 in the entertainment section of the Electronic Programme Guide.
Sky’s UHD coverage runs from 09:00 until 17:00 on Saturday 6th May, enabling viewers to watch the events from Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace at no extra cost.
Kay Burley will be fronting Sky’s coverage with a team including Joanna Lumley, Anna Botting and royal events commentator Alastair Bruce. Sky News coverage will also appear on Sky Showcase and it will be available in HD, for viewers without a 4K UHD device.
Last month, Sky confirmed it would make UHD coverage available to its satellite and streaming customers. It is also making the event available in UHD via the Sky News YouTube channel enabling non-subscribers to access the event. Sky was unable to confirm availability of its UHD service on third-party networks like Virgin Media. Virgin Media was initially also unable to officially confirm if Sky News UHD would be available.
