Freeview monthly update reaches devices across the UK

20 May 2026

Some broadcasters have made changes to their channels on Freeview as the platform completes its monthly tidy-up.

  • Changes to GREAT! TV+1 and GREAT! Movies

Freeview’s monthly channel update for May has completed with routine housekeeping to account for recent changes.

A retune is not critical, but will result in channels 61 and 62 appearing in the wrong order until a retune is completed.

The changes affect viewers across most of the UK. If you only receive a limited Freeview service, or live in the Isle of Man or Channel Islands, there are no changes.

What’s changed?

GREAT! TV +1 is now on channel 61.

It’s the time-shift of classic entertainment channel GREAT! TV, which has become a hit with older viewers tuning in to see shows including Little House on the Prairie, Rumpole of the Bailey and Ballykissangel.

The channel technically replaces GREAT! Romance Mix, a spin-off of GREAT! Romance, which is unaffected by the changes. Prior to the switch, which took place late Wednesday morning, you may have encountered GREAT! TV+1 on GREAT! Romance Mix’s old channel slot of 62. A glitch which briefly resulted in the wrong programme information being shown is now fixed.

GREAT! Movies, a streaming channel, has now swapped places. It’s now moved from channel 61 to channel 62.

Among the shopping channels, Hobbycraft TV (channel 97) has been relabelled Shop Unlimited. Shop Unlimited originally started as a Facebook-based shopping service, sharing the Freeview slot with Hobbycraft TV, with additional content via the red button.

Changes to the content of channels will also affect users with a Freely TV connected to an aerial (hybrid aerial/broadband). While appearing on different channel numbers, Freely devices use the same source feed as Freeview when a stream of the channel isn’t available.
