Two years after the news and opinion channel relaunched as a streaming-only service, Talk confirms it will no longer stream on Freeview channel 280.
- Talk continues on smart TV streaming platforms, including Samsung TV Plus and LG Channels
- The channel moved to streaming in April 2024
Talk, News UK’s live streaming opinion channel, has confirmed the closure of its Freeview streaming outlet on channel 280.
Viewers have been able to stream the channel on compatible connected Freeview devices since 2024, when its traditional broadcast outlets were closed. The channel – formerly known as TalkTV – previously broadcast on channel 237 before moving to the streaming section of Freeview’s channel list.
In its current incarnation, Talk is the visual radio live stream of the service formerly known as TalkRadio. Its owner News UK also operates similar visual radio live streams of its sister channels TalkSport and Times Radio.
Viewers are invited to continue live streaming Talk via smart TV platforms including Samsung TV Plus, LG Channels and YouTube.
The Freeview service continues to carry a number of hybrid broadcast/broadband streaming services between channels 251 and 291. Streaming services include a variety of news channels, including Al Jazeera, Euronews, and France 24.
Talk moved to streaming in April 2024 after racking up losses for News UK and struggling to attract viewers as a regular TV channel. Launched in April 2022 as TalkTV, the channel offered 24/7 news and opinion. The channel was best known for its flagship evening show Piers Morgan Uncensored, which later moved to YouTube. UK broadcaster 5 screens highlights of his show.
