The BBC’s entertainment channel for young adults is currently scattered across various Sky channel numbers depending where you live.
Following the conclusion of the BBC’s project to upgrade BBC One regional services to HD in England, the BBC will be rearranging some of its services on Sky’s satellite platform (Sky Q/Sky+HD).
- BBC One HD will now be universally available on channel 101.
- This clears Sky channel 115 across England.
From Wednesday 22nd February, BBC Three will move to channel 115, meaning it will now have the same channel number across England and Northern Ireland. For viewers in London, the move is major change, as BBC Three is currently down on channel 173.
Viewers in Wales will continue to access BBC Three on channel 117. And in Scotland, it remains on channel 142 for now.
By the summer, Sky will be obliged to move BBC Three closer to the top of the channel list in Scotland. This is a result of Ofcom rules. The rules mean platform operators must reserve a top 24 slot for certain channels in the channel list.
In other changes, BBC Parliament will launch in HD on Tuesday 21st February on Sky satellite channel 504.
There are no changes on Sky Glass/Sky Stream, which has its own channel numbering system.
