Freeview users have been notified of a number of channel changes as the platform completes its channel update for November.
- New streaming portals join the line-up
- A number of channels get new names
Freeview says a number of broadcasters have made updates to their channel portfolio on the platform. The changes occurred at midday on Wednesday.
As previously reported, the AMC CBS UK channel partnership has rebranded its channels: with immediate effect, CBS Reality is now True Crime, Reality Xtra is True Crime Xtra and Horror Xtra is Legend Xtra (although the latter channel isn’t as widely available on Freeview).
For viewers in Manchester, That’s 80s (channel 80) has turned into the pop-up channel ‘Best Xmas music’. The music channel is also available on Sky. But for Freeview viewers elsewhere, That’s TV is inserting seasonal music videos in-between the films on its That’s Christmas channel (channel 65).

New streaming services
Three new streaming services have launched on the platform.
- On channel 213, Moochi is a new streaming channel for pre-schoolers featuring shows including Tractor Ted and Talking Tom.
- Channel 272 is now the home of MBC – not the Middle Eastern broadcaster of the same name, but “My Binge Channel”. Asharq News, previously on 272 is now on 274.
- Meanwhile, on channel 291, TV Extra is a new portal carrying access to a small range of streaming channels. Broadly, the portal carries services that you can already find elsewhere, including Create & Craft, Craft Extra, the UK Radio Portal and Talking Picture’s Encore portal.
Freeview says you will need to retune to update your TV and keep your channels and TV Guide up to date.

Removals
- Channel 203 – CITV has been removed after its closure in September.
- Channel 261 – Vision TV – one of the longest running streaming portals is terminated.
- Channel 262 – Arise News is also gone – the channel was recently delisted from Sky.
It should be pointed out that most of today’s changes won’t need an urgent retune. Some devices might not automatically change the name until a retune is complete.
