Freeview completes April channel update

23 April 2025

Further changes to streaming services and the official removal of a radio station that has chosen to move off the airwaves.

  • Nolly Africa goes live
  • TWR is delisted
  • Alaraby moves

24 hour premium African movie channel Nolly Africa has joined the platform’s growing number of hybrid streaming channels. The HD channel which features the best of Africa’s film industry, known as Nollywood, is now available to stream on Freeview 287. The channel was previously inside the Channelbox portal on 271, but like Euronews and Trace, has opted to switch to a standalone service, providing more visibility on the TV guide.

Meanwhile, Trans World Radio, or TWR for short, is now delisted from Freeview channel 733 after its decision to leave the airwaves in favour of going online only at the end of March. The station had already been delisted from Sky and Freesat.

Hybrid streaming service Alaraby Network has switched multiplexes. The change means the service will have less coverage than previously, continuing to be available on channel 264 in areas where local TV services are broadcast on Freeview.

You might need to retune to ensure you continue to receive all available Freeview channels in your area. The changes apply to viewers in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, but not the Channel Islands.

  • Hybrid streaming services rely on a terrestrially broadcast signal to direct receivers to a portal or a stream of a channel. Therefore, they will not work if you don’t have your TV connected to an aerial, even though they are streamed via the internet.
