Freeview completes summer channel update

16 July 2025

Two channels have changed numbers, with further updates to Freeview’s hybrid streaming channels.

  • GREAT! movies channel moves from long-time Freeview home.

Freeview’s mid-July update has rolled out to viewers across the UK, tidying up the channel list following other recent changes.

The main change in this month’s update is a change in channel numbers for Narrative Entertainment’s GREAT! tv and GREAT! movies channels.

With the change GREAT! movies has left its long-standing slot between 5Action and ITV+1. Instead, owner Narrative Entertainment has bumped up GREAT! tv to a more prominent slot on the Freeview channel list.

GREAT! movies has moved from channel 34 to 50, swapping places with GREAT! tv. If this change has not automatically taken place on your TV, the channels will swap positions the next time you retune your TV.

GREAT! tv is the UK television home of classic US TV shows from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Current titles include Murder, She Wrote, Diagnosis Murder, The Father Dowling Mysteries, M*A*S*H and Little House on the Prairie. The channel is also showing Star Trek movies this weekend.

GREAT! movies is the home of various made-for-TV movies, but has expanded its schedule to feature reality (including Heathrow: Britain’s Busiest Airport) and drama (including Sue Thomas: F.B. Eye)

New on Freeview

Weeks after its removal from Sky, news channel India Today returns as a hybrid streaming channel in parts of the UK on channel 258.

Meanwhile, Trace UK’s standalone hybrid streaming service on channel 285 has been removed. Content from Trace is available through the Channelbox portal on channel 271.

Tidy Up

Two services have been delisted following earlier technical changes.

ITVBe+1 has gone from channel 93 following the closure of ITVBe back in June.

Meanwhile, the old copy of 4seven has been deleted following a technical change last month. If you’ve now lost 4seven on Freeview, you’ll need to retune your TV.

Both services carried an information slate prior to their removal from the channel list.
